Don't get me wrong - they're out there - but it takes some searching. Walk into any baby boutique and you'll find walls of pink ruffly fun things, and a noticeably smaller boy section of outfits that have either firetrucks or dinosaurs on them.
Yes, yes, I'll admit that my boys have worn their share of firetruck or dinosaur-laden outfits I deemed "cute enough", but come on - a little imagination here, please?
Also, I should probably mention that I try to keep my babies in baby clothes for as long as possible. I don't put them in baby jeans or baby button-up shirts or collared polos. Babies grow so fast, so I like to keep mine in cute little onesies or footed bodysuits for as long as possible. Once you get past 12 months, a lot of baby clothes just look like tiny versions of adult clothes. I am not down with that.
Baby girls have endless options for cute baby dresses and matching bloomers all the way through toddler sizes. Baby boys have overalls. That's about it.
Take bloomers for example. I adore bloomers, but I don't have a baby girl. And for some reason, bloomers seem to come in one of two looks: ruffly or pink. They've been designated a girl piece of clothing, but they're wrong. Baby boys wear diapers, too. So I set out to fix this problem.
I found a pattern for bloomers and made them with airplane fabric. Voila! Bloomers for boys!

I love these things. They're going to be so great for summer weather.
Also, Asher was happy to offer moral support while I sewed. It always helps to have Spongebob on TV when I'm in my sewing room :)
